Combine, heavy cream, butter, and sweetener. Stir to combine ingredients. Cook over medium heat. You do not want to speed the heating process.
Simmer over medium heat, stirring on occasion until mixture bubbles up and then begins to thicken. About fifteen (15) minutes
Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Whisk condensed milk mixture to ensure no clumps have formed.
Carmel aka Dulce de Leche
Preheat oven to 400°
Pour condensed milk into a small glass jar and cover with aluminum foil.
Place the covered jar in the center of a small baking pan. Fill with water ⅔ of the way.
Bake for one (1) hour. Carefully remove from oven, uncover and stir with a spoon. Mixture may bubble up. Recover and place back in the oven for another thrity (30) minute before checking again.
Remove from oven when you see milk reaches a hue of caramel to your liking. Allow to cool for 30 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
Store in an airtight container up to 7 days in refrigerator.
